Optiver began in 1986 as a market maker on the Amsterdam-based European Options Exchange. We started with just a single floor trader. Today, we are a leading independent global arbitrage group with offices in Europe, Americasand Asian Pacific.
Optiver's first office in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, began on the Dutch Options Exchange (AEX) with a single floor trader in 1986. Today, our Amsterdam office trades on all major European exchanges.
Optiver operates as a market maker in the Netherlands and the rest of Europe, providing liquidity in various equities and derivatives exchanges. Optiver is active in derivatives trading on Euronext Amsterdam as a primary market maker and competitive market maker. Optiver Amsterdam is one of the biggest players in the Euronext Cash segment (equities) and is active on all other European equities and derivatives platforms, such as the London Stock Exchange, Xetra, Eurex, Virt-X and Chi-X.
Our team in Europe is growing every day. Today, Optiver has more than 350 employees in Amsterdam, but new employees are welcomed into a large and well-functioning team on a regular basis. Our central location in the Netherlands offers a prime opportunity to take full advantage of the possibilities in the European markets.
Although we recruit the best possible candidates, we understand that all Optiver employees need help and guidance to reach their full potential and to learn our specific processes and ways of doing business.
Optiver Academy is an extensive in-house training program that provides development support for all internal roles. This includes management development programs, courses about Trading (for both Traders and non-Traders), IT and language studies. We also offer extensive sponsorships for relevant external courses/certifications.
Optiver offers current employees the opportunity to transfer to any of our international offices, based on the needs of the office. This may help employees in their development or may just be a chance for them to experience other cultures. Certain positions are not eligible for international relocation.
