We are constantly looking for ways to improve how we manage our risks. Risk Models play a pivotal role in this. These models rely on accurate data supplied by our Modelling Data Teams as part of ABN AMRO’s Finance and Risk Data Domain. We are looking for an experienced, fast learning Senior Business Developer who understands the importance of Data Management regulations such as BCBS239, Data Compliance, and Data Capability (Governance, Data Quality, Data Lineage, Data Sourcing).

Your job

As a member of the Non Retail Consuming dataset team, you will make sure that the data we supply to Credit Risk Modelling is compliant and accurate. Purpose hereof is to contribute to having complete and fit-for-purpose data within the Bank, to improve Data Quality for Finance & Risk Models, be able to trace the Data Lineage of our most Critical Data Elements, and to ensure that is in line with internal and regulatory expectations.  
You do so by following the centralized Data Governance processes as defined in our Data Risk Policy and its Standard, as well as the BCBS239 requirements / Standard, including developing more detailed Guidelines which are specific to the Finance & Risk architectural landscape.

Additionally you will be expected to actively contribute to sharing knowledge about Data Management and to improving the process.

Working environment

The Finance & Risk Data Domain is part of Finance & Risk Business Grids (F&RBG), and plays an active role for all the Finance and Risk departments. We employ 250+ international professionals with different backgrounds who are driven to bring data management within Finance & Risk to a structurally higher level. Our aim is to generate reliable finance & risk data on time. We do this by improving the data itself, data systems and data processes. We work with an Agile operating model. Our Finance and Risk Data Domain consists of 5 departments where the atmosphere is dynamic, open and informal.

The Consumer Data department is part of the Finance & Risk Data domain and is primarily responsible for supplying data for developing and calibrating risk models. The cluster is now being expanded to almost 50 FTE divided across 4 sub teams (Credit Risk Retail, Credit Risk Non-Retail, ALM and a team working on our Risk Analytics Platform). 

In this role, you will be working in the Credit Risk Non Retail Modelling Data team. This team consist of highly motivated colleagues with international backgrounds, working in an open and informal atmosphere. Given the importance the regulatory authorities ascribe to modelling and the data underpinning it, this is a challenging and impactful role. 

Your profile

Our ideal candidate is a pro-active, passionate person who enjoys bringing structure to a continuously changing environment, has a proven track record in driving change in organizations with complex setups and recognizes the importance of data management in a regulatory driven environment.

You also have the following qualifications and skills:

  • A Master’s degree
  • You have knowledge of data management best practices (e.g. DAMA)
  • The ability to detail and challenge data requirements
  • Knowledge of credit risk management in banking or financial institutions
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Good stakeholder management skills 
  • Interest in working with Finance and Risk data in a Banking environment
  • Knowledge of risk management in banking or financial institutions is a pre
  • You are familiar with the Agile way of working
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English (Dutch is an advantage), powerpoint / word skills are a must
