Being a gatekeeper to the financial system is easier said than done. In the rapidly evolving field of sanctions detection, staying ahead means continuously adapting and optimizing models to ensure robust risk coverage across millions of clients and transactions. As a Data Scientist in FEC Tech Sanctions, you will be expected to identify sanctions risks, propose innovative solutions and drive them from proof of concept to implementation.
Practical examples
- Initiating a data-driven approach to reduce sanctions circumvention risk through network analysis
- Convince stakeholders of implementation of a LLM that improves screening of trade transactions
- Develop a model proposal that translates business requirements related to a specific sanctions risk into actionable insights

Top 3 responsibilities
- Identify sanctions risk gaps and develop a proof-of-concept model to address them and pitch to senior stakeholders
- Drive approved proof-of-concepts into implementation, working together in a team of 2-3 fellow data scientists
- Contribute to the design, development and evaluation of advanced statistical models to solve complex challenges within sanctions detection

You and your talent
- Your background is in Artificial Intelligence, Econometrics or another quantitative field.
- You have at least 3 years of experience in advanced data science in a regulated environment.
- Extensive hands-on experience in Python for developing and testing statistical models as well as handling large datasets with SQL or PySpark.
- You are a proactive with a strong understanding of sanctions-related risks, capable of designing new model proposals to effectively address those risks. Certifications like CGSS and/or CSS are a distinct advantage.
- You are comfortable challenging the status quo continuously, identify problems and focus on delivering crafty solutions.
- Advanced communication skills to translate complex technical insights into straightforward recommendations for non-technical stakeholders.
- Overall command of English at C1 level or up is required. Dutch language skills are desirable.
- You are currently residing in the Netherlands and possess the legal right to work here.
